Interested hearing about what's happening in other Rock Schools?

Then the Rock Schools First National Convention on 3rd February 2012 is for you!

The convention is for anyone involved in or interested in setting up a rock school. It will be a chance to exchange different models of work, knowledge and good practice as well as hear presentations from key people and organisations working in the UK music industry and music education sector.

You will also have FREE entry to the British Music Experience which is Britain’s national museum of popular music. The museum host's hands on Audio/Visual exhibits and with over 3,000 images, 600 video clips, 3,000 artist videos and over 600 items of artist and music memorabilia, its a must see for any music fan! This action packed day will include;

• Presentations from other Rock School projects

• Presentations by key national and local organisations.

• Meeting with other Rock School deliverers

• Trade and support organisation stalls

• Live music

• FREE entry to the British Music Experience

A workshop leader, composer and presenter with a speciality in devised and collaborative performance. He has directed hundreds of creative projects throughout Europe and has worked in virtually every conceivable musical and social context.

Firestone Rock Band (www.firestonerockband.com)
FRB - Firestone Rock Band are a group of disabled musicians who want to share their love of music with everyone. Together for over twenty five years, they have played from Leicester to La Rochelle, France and most places in between. They not only write their own music and songs but perform many of their favourites from the last forty years

Raw Material is a charity which empowers and enables young people by providing high quality education, training, professional development and musical experiences. Raw Material has the vision to see young people working in the arts developing positivity, thriving, succeeding and contributing to their communities.

Oli Kluczewski - Music Producer, The Roundhouse, London (www.roundhouse.org.uk)
Oli leads on a number of youth and creative projects at the Roundhouse Studios. Young people are at the heart of everything they do. They're on the board and help plan and perform at events. The Roundhouse offer a year-round schedule of creative projects for 11–25 year olds in 24 state-of-the-art studios, where facilities include TV, radio and music production, media suites and rehearsal rooms for music and performance.

James Hayward - CEO, Free The Jam (www.freethejam.com)
Free The Jam is an organisation for young musicians that aims to create a safe space to meet up and play. Its a community for young musicians looking to bring their talents 'from in there, to out there'.

Chris Scott - Harwich Rock School,  (http://www.rock-school.org.uk/)
Harwich Rockschool is a rural project started by local parents as an activity for their children. It has developed into a charity which has it’s own venue that runs apprenticeships, bids for funding, has a studio, runs sessions for adults and extended schools delivery.

Adrian Cooke - Community Music East (CME) and Sound and Vision, (http://www.cme.org.uk/)
CME run rock schools and are leading the regional development agency for the music industry in the east of England. Adrian has a background in music retail, distribution and venue management and is now development director for CME.
